Battle of Winchester.
Thure de Thulstrup. Sheridan's predawn attack near Winchester, on September 19th, 1864, met with only moderate success, but after eight hours of seesaw fighting followed by a short lull, all three Union corps, led by cavalry, attacked along the entire Confederate line, forcing Early's troops to flee in disarray.
